Beneath Our Feet
Linda Wysong & Pamela Chipman August 4 - September 22, 2005 public spaces in Portland, Oregon
Beneath Our Feet is a site-specific video montage by Portland based artists Linda Wysong and Pamela Chipman. It explores water, rain, and the mysterious world under the pavement. Created with footage from the West Side Big Pipe Project, the six-minute video loop takes the viewer under the street and into the 14-foot diameter pipe as it winds its way through Portland. This unusual perspective expands the discussion of form, function and beauty in our everyday lives.
On August 4, 2005, the opening night screening along the East Bank of the Willamette River included Current: An Evening of Videos Inspired by Water, a curated selection by Stephen Slappe. Tracing the route of the underground pipe, Beneath Our Feet was also shown at: Waterfront Park, Madrone Park, Arbor Lodge, Kenton and St. Johns.
